Pizza is the easiest way to eat when you are in a hurry and this is most light food whenever you go. Before, I do not like eating pizza but now I am used to this food, actually it is now one of my favorite foods. Pizza has a lot of flavors but in my taste every flavor gives different taste and I can do accept it all. After giving birth of Sam, I need to watch out my weight. So far, I maintain my figure not but still I am really very careful on what to eat and drink. I am not super health conscious but it is better to be safe right?

Anyway, if you live here in United States pizza is available everywhere! This serves as the food for everybody but just to tell you, I am loving with rice still, haha! Rice is forever be the main course in a day. You can call me a rice girl, I will not complain about it! Wink.

Time to have pizza . Let us eat and have some slice of pizza. Yumm!

Whenever there are special occasions such as anniversaries or birthdays, some people would choose to go to their favorite restaurant to have a simple and intimate dinner. Those who may be too busy with work and would want to just have a simple dinner instead of an extravagant party may just book for a reservation at their restaurant. Some would even use it as an opportunity to try out the newly opened restaurant that has been getting good reviews. But if you’re looking for an alternative to dining at a restaurant, you can instead choose to just have a special dinner at home. Your preparations journey should not be that elaborate especially if you are only planning to invite a few close friends for dinner. Prepare a menu that you know your guests would love. You can also serve them a dish that they haven’t tried before but you know they will surely love. You can also serve wine. A carefully chosen wine can enhance the flavor of the dishes that you will be serving. If you are unfamiliar with how to choose the best wine for your dishes, you can make some research online or you can participate in a Sonoma Wine Tasting activity, to which it has a bunch of wine to choose from. You will get to determine which wine would complement the dishes that you will be serving. Great food, great friends and family paired with great wine will surely make your dinner even more special.

Breakfast or Brunch (in the middle of breakfast and lunch), it is a time for me and DH (and everyone) to have this biscuit sandwich and a french pies pie with that orange juice as shown in the image below. (You can click the image to enlarge by the way, should you like to.)
Apparently, this was my brunch lately. One of my favorite American Breakfast. :-) DH and I loves it! But as much as I like eating french fries even just such alone, my taste bud just won't accept such fries pie to eat together with such, so ended up in a trash. Sorry fries pie. :-(

How about you, what's your breakfast or brunch menu lately? Do you like what I had? If so, how do you like it? Have a great Friday everyone!

You may already know that my taste-bud has already like eating fresh vegetable salads which is a no-no for me before. I could not content my happiness that very first time I love to eat it. It seems a miracle to me, but it already happen. Whew! Now I am loving it!

Ever since I love vegetable salads, I haven't eaten all my share of exactly the same of what I had before. And you bet, I am so happy about it. Thinking of learning and loving what I can taste and eat just amazes me. My thoughts exactly. Ah, this must be because of my dieting huh! If such, then I must be glad I bump into this journey. Ooh yes, who would not like being a mother? I say such because I gain a lot of weight of having my baby girl and I never regretted even a very little. In fact, I love it much. It's just that, I have to loss weight to which I did and continue doing or maintaining at least. :-) I am just two pounds (2 lbs) away from my pre-pregnancy weight now after having a crash diet to which I lost five-six pounds (5-6 lbs) so not bad, isn't it?

And now, if I don't like eating the pure fresh vegetable salads or the ones that we used to buy in our favorite food chain for such, then I just have to buy the pomegranate dressing, my favorite ever. I now have the buddy for such. Yay! :-)

Have a great day everyone!

May 30, 2012

Before I eat this all, you can now get your share. :-)

Sometimes it is funny how taste buds change. For long time, I never ever like eating raw vegetable or a salad like this. But this time, my taste buds changed. I am longing to eat of such already even without the pomegranate salad dressing (my fave dressing ever). This time, I have the fresh lettuce veges with spinach along with fresh cranberries and the crispy apples with chicken cubes on top. I ate it all except the three pieces of chicken. Wow! I cannot believe that I ate it all, this is my first time. Whew! Happy me. I no longer need a rice for my meal. My tummy can now stand without a rice in my daily platter! What a great news from my tummy and the taste-buds. Ha!

Image above of some of the lettuce salad had already been eaten. I think one-fourth (1/4) of it. I cannot imagine how I loved it to which I ate it all. :-)

And the diet continues. Smile. :-)

Just about minutes ago, DH went to a food chain and bought the biscuit sandwiches along with a pie fries and orange juice. With that biscuit in a sandwich, it has a rectangular egg and patty in the middle then I a ketchup (optional but I put mine). I so love it as much as DH. Ha! Such breakfast in our table was only good for DH and I since our little lady Sam cannot eat that yet.

I do not know if you are familiar or this is your typical breakfast menu. This is not our typical one but I like it! And yes, I love it! It's not my first taste but I can say it just like as it is my first time. You know what I mean? I bet, you got it. You got the feeling of giddy imagining your breakfast is coming and it will going to put on your platter. Ha! :-))

Yep, I had a great breakfast. Smile. :-)  What about you, do  you like such foodie?

May 25, 2012

As much as I like to make maja blanca and cook mixed vegetables in coconut milk with rice and salted fish then stew fish for meal but cannot kept-up with my time. Very busy and I had only few time left for me to do it all if ever. And my baby love daughter Sam already woke-up. Now goodbye to the cooking-journey in my kitchen then. Option B took its place. Yes, a ready-to-eat one should have to be ordered. " And hot pizza, bread sticks and soda has to be in my table before they are here " --- was what's on my mind lately. And hooray, I got it! After I took shower, I called the pizza delivery and placed an order. They made it on-time! Great job to them. Huts off! The delivery man deserves my tip (not that big but he deserves it). After all, it was friends get-together. Meaning, special :-)

It had been how many months I was not able to eat that meat lovers favorite toppings of the pizza DH and I liked to order. You know, I am in diet for the goal of weight loss blah blah. If you didn't know, it was not yet a year old my baby Sam had been delivered in this world by yours truly. Apparently, I still had the baby fat on me. Ha! So a typical pizza is a no-no (yes, unless if it's non-fat *wink*) for successive eats.

And so, have a great day everyone!

Oops! You might wonder what I  meant My City Friends. It is meant as my friends here in the city where I live. I have three friends here, namely: friend C, friend A and friend P {friends CAP for short. :-)}. It is reunited since we have not been able to be around with each other with our kids completely for how many months already. First time then we were complete. Yesterday was a joy in our hearts and the hearts of our kids. It was at my home. Good thing they suggest it here since no need for me to go there and everywhere. Heh! :-) You know, tomorrow is a pre-op of my baby love. :-)

Okay, friend D and her kids was able to attend. She did not picked-up her mobile as friend C and P called her. Whilst friend C was with her kids bought something and headed towards my home, she saw them. Great that she went. We had. Kids had fun. At first, my daughter Sam got wary but later on she got used with her friends and mine. She had fun among us. :-)

Foods and pizza its bread sticks were served along with misty drink. We had a lot of foods, in fact, there are many leftovers. The foods were not planned so well but see, we had a lot and again we had many leftovers. I think God blessed us. :-)

By the way, we gathered together for the condolence of our friend C, her mother died. Sad. :(

Alright, let's not spoil the time-being for friends reunited. All in all, the friends journey met-up was great though.

Wow! That was (I just had my dinner) my first time I finished four (4) pieces of medium drumstick deeply fried of olive oil by my husband. Yes, he is now the one volunteering to fry chicken every time fried chicken is our meal. I could not contain my happiness of what he is doing. I am happy because I don't like frying chicken. I usually had blisters out of a very hot oil. It is not my first time frying chicken but I don't know know I just cannot minimize the hotness or so. What my husband does and advises me at the same time, is he put a cover on the pan but that is close to impossible to me to do that because our stove is high. Putting a cover in the pan would make it worse for me. Good for him because he is tall. Alright, I am grateful he sees the problem. Ha! I can just remember, every time I had blister/s before, he is always there for me to put vaseline on it so it won't be painful. :-) Just being grateful, on the other hand. :-)

Okay, so, this is a record for me and apparently I am making a note. (*wink*) To pair with my viand 4 fried medium drumsticks, a half a cup of rice is doing great along with a lemon-sugar free maple syrup. Burped! Oops! Excuse me. I just had a great dinner (aside from DH cooked it). Smiley me. :-)

May 13, 2012

I am into fish nowadays. The most that I like to cook and craved for is cooking it without a cooking oil. I just had fish soups with vegetables and sometimes no veges on it, just plain spices like bell pepper, scallions (green onions or the onion leaves), tomato, ginger, lemon grass with salt. :-) My tummy already smiled (or can smile all the way) that way. Didn't I told you that it feels like heaven of eating without cooking oil on it especially these days? Yes, I did. Ha!

And you bet, I have a fish stew sitting over my stove this time. It is fresh from my own kitchen. Nothing beats home-made! The pompano-kind of fish (only thinner, sorry forgot the name) is just right for the time. Oops, I just remember the other fish I thaw, will check it after I finish this. I think, it is already great to cook. Okay, tomorrow first thing in the morning. Back to the stew, mmm.. I can now smell it's deliciousness in the air. Ha! As clear as crystal, I am now hungry. It's time for me eat. Ciao!

I love eating sea foods especially healthy tuna. It is either fresh from the ocean, canned or frozen is best for our health. As it has been said, tuna is pack with protein, omega-3, vitamin D, and selenium which plays an important role in our body. According to the research of scientific study, diet rich in fish that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, like canned tuna, can curb or prevent cognitive decline, dementia, depression, neuro-psychiatric disorders, asthma and inflammatory disorders. An issue between tuna and pregnant women questioned but scientific studies prove that tuna is safe to eat for pregnant women! It is even proven that pregnant women who always eat tuna boosts her child's brain. While it is true that pregnant women should stay-away see foods that have high-mercury (like shark, mackerel, swordfish, tilefish), it is actually SMART to eat seafood during pregnancy (following what your OB-GYN or doctor words about what fish to eat or not)!

For me, I prepare my healthy tuna food usually for sandwiches. My family (especially DH) likes it a lot and even always requests me of preparing him to bring to his work. Since I love pampering him and our tummy, I always do it. I also have come to search for another tuna recipe which I will have to prepare for my beloved in the next following days. I am chasing and been reading a Caribbean-Style Albacore recipe which I plan to cook. I find it good for us because we are into diet.

I can't wait to chase for tuna this coming days to cook this recipe. Ciao...

Picture below is a bowl of pompano fish soup with lots of vegetables which apparently you can see it in the middle. The one in the right side fish is the pompano, a kind of fish which is so yummy-delicious for soup. My first time for this fish as made into soup. I am glad my friend P introduced this fish to me and I declare as so delicious for this kind of fish recipe. To go with the fish meat, on the left side is a non-fat brown and white rice {yes, I mixed it. You would surprise how tasty it is when you try it. Try it to taste for yourself. :-) }
I tell you it's so yummy! No cooking oil is present and lots of veges involve, is heaven to me! This picture got a lot of likes of my friends in my Facebook. I don't know if you like this but for sure me and my friends love this fish soup so much. Didn't I tell you that eating vegetables first makes me not crave for rice anymore? If you don't know yet, a meal for me isn't complete without a rice. It seems like it isn't a meal or I did not eat anything. Knowing such would be perfect for diet. Whew! What an awesome find. :-)

May 03, 2012

Whew! Yeah right, it has been days that I am making fish soups as my viand. It has been already aged that I don't like foods that has anything cooking oils on it, most of the time. I mean as it has been cooked. I don't know but that's what my body told me so. And I love it!

By the way, I am making my steps for me to loss weight. So far, it has been five days that I am doing my detox cleansing. Thanks to my friend Anne/Annie for this idea.

And so back to my fish viands, rather steam soups viands. I don't know if you like it that way but for me, I so like it (obviously)! I even thinking of making again now that don't have such in the kettle anymore. Addicting? Nah! My taste coincides to what my goal is, which is to loss some unwanted weight. So good luck to me on this journey. Smile. :-) I am seriously making this do come true. Even if won't get into my target goal, at least I loss some and it's not on the unwanted weight raise "chu-chu" (it is a term) but a progressive weight loss. :-)

Do you think I can make this? Let's see! :)

If you’re going on a date to a restaurant, it’s always worth putting a bit of thought into where might be best to go – particularly if you’re keen to make a positive first impression! And with such a great variety of restaurants available throughout the UK, why not take some time to weigh up the pros and cons of the different options before booking?

Seafood
Going to a seafood restaurant for a date is a great choice for many people – dishes tend to have a fresh, exotic feel and choices such as lobster or a seafood platter also give you a chance to splash out on something special that the two of you can share. Seafood, however, is not to absolutely everyone’s liking (and allergies can be problematic), so it’s advisable that you check this out with your date before you book anything.

Sushi
Although sushi is still technically seafood, it’s also about the unique preparation techniques and the varied feel to your meal. The dishes are light, fun and quick, making for a playful atmosphere. Some restaurants even offer customers the opportunity to craft their own dishes, which could make the date all the more special – do your research online to see if this option is viable.

Eastern cuisine
Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisines have long been popular with couples and families alike. Restaurants typically have a large amount of choice to suit most palates, with menus covering different meats, fish, rice, soup and noodle dishes. The only thing to watch out for is that many venues double up as a pick-up takeaway, which might not be the ideal ambiance for your meal.

Italian
Italian restaurants are a safe bet: the romantic associations with Mediterranean cuisine still ring true and it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t like at least one dish on most menus. But for that reason, some of the excitement and novelty might be lost: trying something new can often achieve the desired spark on a date, and pizza or pasta could look a little boring. Wherever you end up taking your date, though, charge cards can help to make at least one part of the evening run smoothly: payment. With an American Express Gold Card, for example, you can earn reward points on virtually every purchase you make, with no pre-set spending limit or interest charges.

Haiizzzt, you know, right! Some person just have to wake-up in the middle of the night to feed the baby daughter. Actually, it was passed 1:00 A.M. already that time. Then made a lemon-maple sugar-free with cayenne juice. And since the lemon juice just only little left, I then immediately made more aside from the reason of I didn't want my lemons will be rotten as it were already going to such. Then I did! Yes, I did the squeezing of the five (5) grocery bags which has a total weight of 31+ lbs large lemons unto the juicer, strained, put in the container and the routine work mentioned.

And the journey continued in the kitchen alone, whilst the housemates were busy sleeping. Aright! Yes! But then that's the only time I had so I grabbed the chance. And it went fine. It went fine of four hours standing and squeezing and such! Oops, there was also an extra work of putting the done lemon shells along with its little left juices to the kitchen upper tiles. And so that was it. I did it all! Good luck to my next step, my main goal. :-) Guess.. :)

There are foods that you do not like, that is for sure. Just like, I am not a picky-eater but when I arrived here in United States of A, I suddenly became a little of such. It maybe mixed with a home-sickness thing too, I think since I was just new that time. You know, I missed those foods that I grew-up with.

One food that I cannot stand to eat before, was the pizza. Yes, it is. Come to think of it, it is what most of the people here eats. But it just can't get into my taste bud, even into my smell. It got me puked (sorry for that) even if I am already so hungry. But that was before. I already overcame it after how many years. Whew! Pizza is one of my DH fave, so I gotta learn how to embrace it even just its smell. Good thing, I learn to eat it too and you would surprise because it became my favorite too!

Lately, I am just so very glad I already got over of  "not" liking the taste of fresh milk to drink on. Just like how pizza (even its smell) irritates my mood. Oops I was not pregnant those times, okay? It took me years to appreciate its taste. Fresh milk here in USA (specially to my DH) is somewhat like a basic thing in the kitchen, basic thing in the breakfast, basic thing of eating with cookies. And it is just two days ago, I learn its precious taste. The reason? Because I do not have "Nido" dry  milk anymore. The "Nido" by the way is the dry milk I drink in lieu of my favorite dry "Bear Brand" milk. What-ta! Yum!

What about you, do you like drinking fresh milk? Do you have some story of it too just like mine? ;-)

Two days ago, I had a friends get-together for the four of us, here in our place. We had it specifically in downtown. We had food trip and of course, the laugh trip. Ha! It is a great moment. The first time being together for the four of us, after more than six months. My second time went-out without my infant with me. And so, the highlight of the food trip was eating in "The Boiling Crab" restaurant, my first time.

The mild cajun dungeness flavor of the shrimps, taste really great! You would forgot that you are in the restaurant. Well, all the people there have their plastic bibs because it is a shell seafood restaurant. So, it is not a shy moment since all eats that way.
(in our table, the two pounder seasonal crab hasn't yet arrived that time in the picture)

And because I cannot get over with the shrimps, I order a pound weight the next day! I eat it in the house with a little share for my DH (he don't like shrimps much). Yay! Happy me! :-)

March 30, 2012

From a Louisiana Kitchen or the famous food chain "Popeye" as for "P" is what I got days ago. DH bought us this for dinner for our (it is just me and DH in the house except if our little one can already eat like this) dinner.
Looks like a KFC-thing. It has corn (only in KFC, the corn is small) mashed potato (I like more its gravy than KFC), biscuit and chicken. The chicken is yummy-licious (or yummy-delicious)! I like the corn in KFC though.

To tell you what, this is my first time (this is one of my firsts) I had eaten from Popeye or Louisiana Kitchen and I love it! Well, you just had knew I like its food. Hoping to have more in the future. Smile. :-)

February 26, 2012

... from my husband point of view. It is an "in-demand" at the  moment. It has been how many days successive which my DH bought chicken in the market and let me do the frying. He said he likes the taste of my cooking than in the famous food chain like KFC, Mc Donald's, pollo loco and such. Forgive me big food chains but this is just a home-made ones. Yours are great too but DH likes to have home-made ones especially from his wife's cooking. Smile. But yes, he likes my deep-fried chicken. And I have no problem of cooking it for him. In fact, I am very much happy serving his one of his favorite home-made ones cooked by yours truly. Now if you excuse what my DH brag, I am going to unlock my secret of how I cook it. Aside from a hot oil (yes, put and take-out only chickens from stove pan in a hot oil), my secret ingredients of frying a chicken ala Cacai M. is: cooking oil (I use olive oil), meat tenderizer, seasoned salt, ground pepper and flour. One thing too is: I made cuts in the pieces of chicken since it is urgent (can't marinade anymore). It is a choice if you like to take the skin or leave it on. I like to leave it on, the crispy skin makes it more yummy. And that's it! The procedure? After gathering the ingredients, you have to: (1) Wash pieces of chicken, (2) Put oil in a pan and let it boil, (3) make "cuts" of the pieces of chicken using knife, (4) put the meat tenderizer, seasoned salt and bell pepper just enough to taste, (5) coat it of a flour, (6) then fry in a hot oil and again, only take-out the last batch in a hot oil (not that you will take it out only after it is a little bit cold. That's it! Enjoy the "ala Cacai M. fried chicken" ! Whew! ;-)

It was not a plan to visit my friend, Te Claudia's home. She invited me in the nick of time. I was about to take a dream plunge, ooh yeah, going sleep after changing bed sheets and making bed and some household chores when the phone rang. Oops! She called. Yours truly actually received a text message before that but was not able to reply. I prefer call than text. Wink. Then back to the call thing, yep, we had a conversation which tempted me to walk going to her house. Her conversation food temptation was effective. Ha ha! That was why I dragged myself walking there. The good thing is her place is not that far from mine. And so I was there, we ate steamed mixed vegetables, some beef, cake, piniato and other stuffs. We had karaoke too while trying to reach our other two friends nearby but Preciel cannot make it and we understand. She and her family got sick. Sad. We hope she and her family will be alright very soon. Our other friend was able to come after trying to reach her phone numbers. Dorie, who happened to celebrate her birthday today was with us which was great. I have to great her once  more now, " happy many more birthdays to come Dor! " and more graces ahead! All in all, we had. Te Claudine and her DH dropped me by at home which am thankful of. It was a fun friends journey day!
