And who said that only in the woman sweet sixteen, eighteenth birthday or for a man twenty-first birthday party that it has to be of blast? Yep, that is commonly what is hereby normally-called but oops my friend who will be turning thirty sometime on the third week of April this year is such a special celebration of her! There are lot of reasons why she is doing this. It is because she has accomplished several diplomas already and currently she is working on what she likes which is a nurse on one of the prestigious hospitals in Los Angeles area. Another one is it is because of being thankful of a life she got, and other some couple of reasons. She is single and this is also to celebrate that is now free to accept suitors (granted by her parents after all). :-) With this, she said she needs printing services for her invitations to send to the peeps who she likes to come to her party. She want them to gather on her special day so one of the highlights of the stuffs she want is the invitations. She wanted it to be elegant and more inviting.

To be surrounded with friends and family circles here in USA (her immediate family cannot attend personally , they are in Philippines but they are celebrating as well through web cam and such on that day) is what her deep thought goal for this thirtieth birthday of her. I am planning to be there because she already invited me. I hope there's no circumstances that cannot be avoided of me on that special day of her because I do not want to spoil her special day. I wish her all the best of everything.

As I recalled, Presidents' Day last year was Feb 16 and this year it was one day ahead which was yesterday - February 15. It fall on that day because the day was sandwich from the weekend and normally it is not on the exact date every year but it falls on the Monday on the midth of Heart Month (Feb). As what the history and fact told, this is called the "Presidents' Day" in honor of the late two presidents George Washington (The First USA President) which his birth date is February twenty-second (22nd) and Abraham Lincoln (The 16th USA President) which he was born in the ninth (9th) day of February. Though they are not in this world anymore (deceased), yet we celebrate their birthdays (in one) because they are important persons that shaped up United States of America and one of the reasons why this nation is up today. Have a happy Presidents Day all!

One of me and dear hubby's Christmas preparation is the smoked baked ham shown above. At first I wanted to cooked the ham which has to be cooked for long hours through a raw pork meat-- that ham which is super soft and so tasty. I even texted my aunt in the Philippines (it's one of her specialty when it comes to cooking) how she made it and asked for the recipe. And she texted me back and gave it to me the ingredients and a little instruction on how to do it. And so I Googled it more. But then I found out that 99% cook here in America use the smoked ham and clover. I wasn't convinced with it, insisted to cook the traditional cooking even how many hours of simmering it with the ingredients to make it fully soft. After hours of looking at YouTube and other information, I proceeded to the market and bought stuffs for "Noche Buena" centering the ham. :-) Hubby dearie don't like to eat though... even just a little to taste, it's not his thing. He wasn't fond of it. And so even he don't want to eat it, he let me got it. In the wet market, I haven't found a good pork meat, only one left and the rest was sold out already. So I ended up looking at the smoked ham.. Couple of minutes comparing different holiday hams, I got the brownish two pounds one. So that was it, I sliced the two layers plastic cover and slice it(crisscross preferably) a bit from end to end and put pineapple juice. Then put some brown sugar in the skin slits. Then I put some of the pineapples slices at the top of the ham and covered it with tin foil. Baked it at 325 degrees Farenheit for 20-30 minutes every one pound so all in all I put it in the oven for 40-60 minutes. And done! Happy eating..

I love receiving postcards. Who doesn't? :-) ... perhaps some just don't but mostly loves receiving it and am one of those. It's pretty nice to receive especially when it comes from different countries or just from friends, families, and some from business partners in the neighborhood. For me, postcards are cool. It creates an idea of good communication and thought of both the receiver and the giver. It is different when you receive a creative unique idea of what the message is all about. Most businesses find a cool way of pleasing their customers, they will send out some postcard. Like if you have a dental appointment or some, they will remind you of either through phone call or sending out one so you won't forget the time and date. It's somewhat like customary already to many of them. You will sometimes surprise that there are advertisements and invitation on your mailbox through such. It's a pretty way of communicating. Well for me, I love it when friends and families send me such and I even becoming it as a hobby like stamp collection, exchanging post cards or buying ones to satisfy my collection stuff. What about you, do you love collecting postcards?

My friend in Wisconsin was married last year. It's not such a different news because the couple are very in-love with each other. The fact that they planned their marriage date on Winter season is quiet something but perhaps unique. I could say because mostly brides want to wear sleeveless wedding gowns or such pretty much enticing gowns but as I said theirs were not since they want a snowy, cold one. Well, I do not have a disagreement since that was what they want. It is just that it was pretty unique. And the couple were very much excited about it, in fact, they have their wedding accessories and all the wedding stuffs prepare one month before the wedding date. All in all, the wedding went well and both families of the couple were happy and of course the couple did. And now they are still very loving with each other and savors every moment that they are together. Isn't there winter wedding ceremony idea awesome? For me, yes it was though ours was held in the summer season. Though they have a unique one but I guess for many isn't because of the weather and such. Well, everyone has a unique idea in their own way. I am then happy for every couple's choice, as long as they are happy with each other.

I am blessed to have friends both online and offline. Yep, I got packages. I said packages because it's two of it. One package is for me and my Dear Hubby from Analou and Dennis. I got it after I shopped for Christmas cards, that was 16th of Dec (Wednesday). I was stunned seeing there was a package at our door and named. Analou by the way is my blogger buddy and has authored "The Shadow of Our Pasts and the Silhouette of Our Future", and "Analou's Place to Remember" blogs. I was the one introduced her to blogging and am glad she loved it as a way for some comfort. Well, as I said it's one way to find comfort sometimes and some socializing too so she won't missed much her family in the Philippines. Okay back to the gift, I recalled I mentioned to Analou a bit that we will have an exchange gift but I wasn't able to told her really. I just cut it off thinking that it's crisis nowadays. So, we can both save money :-). But she/they made it and there it's my/our conscience not to give back :-).. so me with the help of my hubby dear(financially) shopped and mailed it two days ago. The postman said it will arrive last day. Hopefully it did. :-) Below is the package content.

This is our first Chrismas package as a couple. Thanks An and Dennie for the gift. We love it. Now, we have a lot of kitchen knives already added to our kitchen tools. You really know! muahhh!

Anyway, the other package was from Dhemz, my other blogger buddy. She surprised me with a beautiful purplish sleeveless with a family picture and newsletter. I love it and I will show you on my next post. Have a good day!

Thirty-seven (37) to posts to go to get to five-hundred (500) posts. Will I get to be in such number before this blog anniversary? Before I will go further or for you to think, lemme tell you this first. First, I didn't intend to get into such posts in number(500) for just the name. It just came up to my mind after I got the email that this will be one year old soon. Then lately as after I hit the publish button on my last post before this, I got to see my posts inbox and saw the number of my posts. Then came to think about it. This blog anniversary by the way is on the 13th of January 2010, about a month only to go. There's one more thought I had, why don't I have to run a contest then, will it be a cool idea? Hmmm.. tell me about what you think. You can reach me anywhere you want -- in YM, email, cbox, in this comment, or perhaps in any social networking site, eh? If so, you can also tell me if you want to sponsor my contest, if you wanna host the contest, proposal, and etcetera for the blogoversary. Hey, it's just an idea okay? No worries because it's just an opinion. I will also give something special (if ever the contest will pursue). Tell me about it.. Just a thought.. :-)

Nine days to go for Christmas! OOH hah! Are you ready for the Christmas celebration folks? Hemmm.. since Christmas is already in the air, I guess most of you are excited and that's great! All I can say is be happy even though there's no new for this special day.

By the way, as the days are counting down for Christmas, rains are also pouring here in my place. This is unusual for me. From three years of my stay in here, it's just this time that it's raining for consecutive days. Am glad it didn't rain today. It was Friday last week until Sunday that it did. I was happy of it because it is not hard that it cause into flood or whatsoever. The raindrops that we had were music to my ears since I had not witnessed raindrops for so long already. Below is the image of the sky last Friday, apparently no clouds appeared that day.

Have a great week folks! Enjoy the countdown and I hope it will not rain hard if there's rain forecast this week and in the coming days.. To God be the glory!

Who said that holiday card isn't in nowadays? Ahemm.. Holiday cards are still in demand today despite of the greetings from the latest cellphones, calls, or here in blog, eh? It's a tradition of getting and giving cards by the way. So now that Christmas is already in the neighborhood, few more days and it will be on our door.. (~_~), Christmas cards are also prepared and ready to fly but not me. I haven't bought Christmas card yet unlike the other two years. I am planning though but hey, blogging friends and readers, I will just greet you here huh? Holiday greeting here is unique and I love the idea.

Anyway, talking about a holiday card, I got my first Christmas card today as I get mail downstairs. It was from my friend Eva with the name of her husband address to me and my husband too. And I was surprised and overwhelmed! I know I got amuse in small and big stuffs. But hey, it's first and advance. I didn't expect to have it early knowing that I haven't prepared mine yet. I would like to say thanks a bunch to my friend in Michigan. By the way, she surprise this time, last year I surprised her. I guess it's just my time for now, an unexpected one. She's by the way my neighbor in my hometown. We're not that close in there, it's in here, talking on phone, in social networking site -- that made us bond and we talked just anything under the line. :-) Thanks for being thoughtful. You're so sweet of my friend. muahh! Diary, take good care of the memory. kisses!

My fiber optic Christmas tree w/ stuffs and lights at night

Christmas day is fast approaching and it's only eleven days to go! Are you excited? Hmmmm... How could you then feel that Christmas is on the way? Can you feel its countdown?

For me, I could feel it through Christmas tree, lights, decorations and songs over th
e radio, on TV, especially in the house and in the neighborhood. I don't know but that's how I basically feel it. Two days ago I told my DH that I couldn't really feel that Christmas is in the air because we don't have decorations in our house yet. Though I already have the stuffs from last year but I didn't felt like doing it. My first time here in America, I felt excited and felt like I did the decorations at the onset of "ber" month and DH laugh at me because he said the tradition is after Thanksgiving Day. Then the next year, I just followed what's the tradition, I did the decoration after TD. Then this year is opposite. But I made up my mind to shop (though hubby was hard to convinced because of the rain) and decorated it afterward (that was two days ago), and did. I can now feel the spirit of the coming holiday. I am like a child, chasing the Christmas tree and the lights always, I feel happy doing it. :-) By the way, I use big and tiny lights (both changing colors and steady), put some lights, and garlands (colorful, single color {white, yellow, and lavender) on the decorations and tree aside from the basic light of the fiber optic (I think that's why the light stands out). By the way, you can click the images to enlarge. :-)

Advance Merry Christmas everyone!

December 08, 2009

I was tagged with my dear sissy Chuchie (Retchie Ruth) of Chuchie's Hideaway, Analou of Analou's Place to Remember, Te Khim, and Tsang Shy for the 'Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year' greeting. It's been always pleasant to my eyes when I see my name of blogs in any awards or tags, I can't help it but to smile and joyous. I know it's just a piece of an image and call me weird but I do really appreciate pals like that. Call me weird (if that's what you think) but that's just me, my emotion.

Ooh by the way, I will have to greet sis Chie in advance on her birthday this coming 22nd this month. I could guess that's why her name is somewhat like the sound of Christmas (Ch) because she was born near the Christmas day. This is just an advance greeting but of course on that day I will also greet her. Thanks a lot sis for being such an awesome one of my blogger bessy here. muahh! Hugs and kisses!

D or David Funk of
Basic Bloganomics blog, is celebrating his birthday today. I wanna great this cool blogger buddy a very happy birthday! He's a man who spoke softly to every blogger. As I knew him, he has lots of Filipina friends in blogland and am glad he is not any of the racist (or what you call haters, and any of them) people out there. I knew we only seldom see racist nowadays but still there are, so he's just one of the people who deserves to be greeted. :-) So to speak, he's not only a friend to Filipinas but people around the globe. He's just friendly so he deserves a hoorah on this special day of him. Anyway, this is his day so you might also great him on his blog so he could feel the spirit of friendships here in blogland. See yah there..

How's your thanksgiving folks? Mine was just simple. I bought boneless fried turkey, no sugar pumpkin pie, cherry lattice pie. Then cooked the turkey gravy, mashed potato, then pork w/ chicken adobo, fried chicken, noodle shrimps. Then prepared maja blanca, fruit cocktail, and martinelli sprite w/ no sugar for drinks. That's all! But ooh I prepare (from shopping to cooking and preparing the kitchen) it from 9 AM up to 5 PM. The pies by the way, was already half because we can't help to eat already. :-) Ooh by the way, my legs hurt of standing while preparing the food. :-( but no worries, it's all worth it! My husband, me, and our one visitor were happy and thanks for the graces! That's all! How's yours? I bet it's great.. I hope you all the best!

Today November 26 is the day of thanksgiving in the United States. Seeing from its title, it clearly mean a gratitude in general. A day to express thank you to everyone who in one way or another contributes as part in you. But one question should I say, if someone hurts you deeply, whould you like to give a thank you greeting to such person? Hmm.. that is a controversial question (I guess), I will leave that to you to give an interaction. :-) By the way, this is also a time to give thanks of the bountiful harvest. Thank you to the fact that we are still here communicating with each other. Thank you friends, ladies, and gentlemen.

I (with my husband) would like to extend greetings to everyone. Happy Thanksgiving to you folks! I hope you have a good time today with your families or friends eating turkey with mashed potato and pumpkin pie (basic food of Thanksgiving Day for most celebrants). All the best!

Mine wasn't bad, it's just that I (and hubby) watched "The Iron Empress" Drama, a Korean drama. Aside from that a baby came over at our house, the niece of my husband named Danielle Haven with her parents. I know how lovely this one year old baby is but I was hooked with the drama so just saying hello through my hubby and besides I was not in my good get-up, was lazy and did blog hopping as well. Ooh the family understands I know.. Ahh blame it to the drama.. hehehe.. Hubby liked to watched it for him as well. (~_~). So that's it. I hope you have a fantastic Halloween folks! By the way, this day and tomorrow is the All Souls Day and All Saints Day in some other countries like Philippines. So I hope you have a blast for the holiday and will lit up candle for my deceased love ones tomorrow. Have a good day!

Yes, that's my first ever made Jack-o'-lantern. This was the result of what I did yesterday, Making a Jack-o'-lantern. Actually I wanted to post it right away but since I wanted to get a good picture but wasn't able to get it, I waited until night time. You know.. And that's now, my simple creation from a 12 lbs pumpkin.
