My birthday went fine. I thought I would just go to church to lit-up candles but went with some friends afterwards with no plan, okay, a minute plan and then just went. Thanks goodness my friends were able to be with me, they are free and were able to go as a minute-plan went. Ooh well. Thanks to Heaven Above for providing me with them. My DH was able to met them too though he didn't ate anymore as he was just from his office (we ate just few meters at the back of the buildings where my DH works) and was a mood to eat dinner few hours afterwards and it's fine as long as we met-up with friends. :-) Just as planned, I went to church but the church which is near at my friends house as well as the buffet resto where we had our small pig-out. Hehe! Te Claudine gave me awesome perfume and birthday card, Au ordered a delicious personalized mango cake from Red Ribbon with live fresh flower pink tulips in a pot and a birthday card and Dorie and Au managed to bring their kids and Au's husband, Cesar, was able to attend too in my birthday get-together. Their presence are precious and I treasure it (of course not only that day but throughout the whole me)! I am just a simple person and their presence are highly appreciated.

Above left was my yummy birthday cake (courtesy of my friend Au and Cesar), then picture-taking on the right.
Above were birthday stuffs. Thnx my precious friends & DH. Below were taken inside the Golden Coast Buffet where we had our pigging-out. Hehe! Thanks much guys!
DH gave me a bouquet of fresh flowers with gift cash (thanks DH, luv u!) for me to buy what I want and I really did. :-) And my friend Analou gave me something for my few jewelry to hang-on, it's a woman-figured. I guess you know how it looked-like. I will show it to you next post as it was in my other camera. Thanks for all your birthday wishes, etc! To all who greeted me here in my blog(s), Facebook, sent me messages, texted and called. Thanks much guys (you know who you are)! I won't forget your kindness and such. Above all, thanks Lord God for giving me another precious age. Am 25forever! ;-) Thanks God for my precious family and friends. ~hugs&kisses~

Who says friends are important as any other person? Yes, friends are important but much more important than just any other person. And am glad I have such friends. I may not have many friends here in my place right now, in fact I have only one friend back then. After more than three years which I long to have, I finally have friends (they are three and three-of-a-kind) here in the city where I live. Friends as to whom I can relate. We are click as for me. We laugh and laugh hard which we like to do much. Hehe! Ooh, am so happy I found them though my first friend whom I called bestfriend before still be the same even if she is not here in the city where I live anymore, I told her that and that could not change. Yep, but these new three friends I have now are awesome too and I love them. They are cool and precious like a gem. They come in a right time (ooh well, long time of waiting but worth it, thanks God for them). This I promise, I won't forget them wherever I am (one day if am not here in this city anymore) and they are my forever friends. They are already written in my heart. My new found friends: Te Claudia, Dorie and Preciel. God bless them for they are three-of-a-kinds.

Have you treasure a friend and have seen them a one-of-a-kinds even if they are still new to you? Because I do. As I said, the click points are there. What about you? Whatever it is, God bless, treasure each other and enjoy having friends!

Several ready-to-eat gourmet foods I got. This happened during my last visit to my bessy Au's home in West Covina last February 27. You can see some of it just only little left, that is because I ate it already. Some also are full since I(and hubby) cannot ate it all. Those were pics in our house already, meaning, others already done or not in the picture. ;-) Ooh well, I can only eat those foods sometimes. Yes, there are still foods like that here in my place but only some. That's why I missed all of such. I can put it in freezer if I cannot consume. Okay, I intended it for one week consumptions. I had roasted pig in skillet or "lechon", stir-fried vegetables or "pinakbet", curried chicken, "sisig", pork hamonado, pork "humba", grilled beef, grilled pork and chicken in sticks (not shown, I heated it up), vegetables cooked in coconut milk or "ginataang-gulay", young jackfruit in coconut milk or "ginataang-langka", shrimps, milk fish, "atsara", and many more!

And also these above foods. Those are snack foodies to which some of it I consumed already before had a pic. Hehe! ;-) Just missed those foods, really! I had a food trip. :-P

February 27, 2011

And who would you think will be going to West Covina tomorrow? Tan ta dan.. aw.. :-) It has been a long time I was not able to go to the market with many foods I like to eat. Aside from the foods that am craving to get tomorrow, a close friend of mine, bessy Au (her family especially baby Celina), is my point of interest on the first place. :-) Okay, along with the foodies. He he he! Oops, alright, after having a success met-up with Venus, Te Shawie and Melga, now am off to meet another one. Nope, if that is what you think, then you're wrong. Not the success met-up because I am so glad to met such beautiful ladies, neighbors in the town of my paternal family in Mahinog, Camiguin (diary have put it in memory, first meet here in USA {Mhegz was a first met really since we have not met in my birth country yet}) and they're fun, fearless (to drive,  he he!) and cool! What I meant is that the plan to go to Au's place was really a long-time planned already and it's just two weeks ago that has been finalized and has to be realized tomorrow, rain or shine! And I do not want to be so excited. Excited seems a cool word to describe. He he!

So then, I wish you a happy Sunday for tomorrow USA peeps and time-alike places! Happy Sunday to those places which is still Sunday and Happy Monday to others. :-) ~hugs&kisses~

You maybe one of those folks who collect mugs, like to give mugs as giveaways or any other occasions (okay not all the time) or just give it to your friends and family as remembrance. You are sweet. Your hobby teaches you to be kind and being one of a kind. Alright, I may not be a mug obsessed but I appreciate mugs especially with arts on it. It would be better if it is photo mugs as I love looking up photos of my family and friends. Well, for some kind of unique way instead of photo frame or a photo album kind of stuff. For me, photo mugs are also great for gifts as the receiver is the character in a mug, don't you think it's cool? I don't know what you think but it is cool for me.

You already know that I got this recipe from a friend, Jocelyn Wallace, thanks to her I made my first "embutido". Wonder what are the recipes to complete the gourmet foodie I made? Here's how (I made half a kilo of her recipe):

Ingredients:
   1/2 kl. ground pork
1.5 (one and a half) pcs. large (or 2 small) raw eggs
   1/2 onion, chopped finely
   1/4 cup raisins/sultana
   1/4 cup sweet relish
   1/2 cup sausage/hotdog, chopped finely
   1/4 cup grated cheese
   1 hard-boiled egg, quartered
   1/4 cup finely chopped carrots
1.5 (one and a half) tbsp. bread crumbs
   salt and pepper to taste

Procedure:
Mix all ingredients except hard-boiled eggs. After mixing, put it in a foil then put the quartered hard-boiled eggs in its centers. Then fold/roll the foil tightly and tie both ends. While folding/rolling the foil with the "embutido" mix on it, preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Put hot water in the steamer (steamer should as long as the "embutido" in foil) and wait until the water boils (I guess by this time, you already done folding/rolling-up the "embutido" in foil). Once water boils already in an oven, put the folded/rolled "embutido" in foil and steam for one hour. And done! "Embutido" is already cooked and ready to cool-off to put in freezer or eat up. :-)

That is all! Have fun doing! ;-)

A friend of mine, Jocelyn W. , posted on her FB about what she cooked. Yes, you guess it right, it's "embutido" (sorry I do not know what's the English language of this food, if you know it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance). I craved as I read her update. Right then, I told her if she could give me some, oops am just kidding, I told her if she could give me her recipe. The goodness on her replied on my inbox with complete recipe. Then I put it on my compilation of my hand-written recipes. "It's the next recipe I have to do" , told myself. I then began to gather the recipes. Days after I had my time after completing the ingredients, I can then proceed to the mixing and steaming up to the finished product. And so I did my first home-made "embutido" will share you the recipe next time (would you like?, just let me know).

Embutido in a foil ready for the quartered hard-boiled eggs to put on it (picture on the left side). Some "embutido" mix is on the center image, ready to put in foil. On the right side image above is the full "embutido" mix (with quartered hard-boiled eggs as the finisher) off for the foil ready to be tightly folded or rolled. The next step after it is rolled on, is to tie each ends with a reliable tie so it won't be scattered. As the recipe went on. As I rolled it on, I preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit with a hot water until boiling. Furthermore, I then put the rolled "embutido" in a foil into the steamer.
And wait for one hour. And done! Ready to cool it off and put in refrigerator or eat. The very first image of this post shows the finish product.

Acknowledgment to my friend for sharing me this recipe. Easy to make!

Biking is one way of exercising. It is a great hobby for oneself. A great family bonding too. I used to have a bicycle before when I was in the Philippines. One day whiles going back from Los Angeles proper to get our ordered foods, I saw a bicycle in a bike rack, it maybe a yakima bike rack (but not so sure as I was not able to read such as it was far, it cannot be read from afar) and it impresses me at the same time reminiscing the fun I had with my bike before. All I did was just smile and look at the bike on the car's back. Such a good feeling reminiscing the good 'ole happy memories, biking how many miles with friends in a cool outfit. ;-)

When there are friends, family, alumni-get-together and alike, what would usually is on the center? Yes, I can hear you! Drinks, wine, foods which include dessert and everything but what else? Yes, discotheque (or simply called "disco") or with a live band which everyone celebrates what should have to be celebrated. But what about karaoke? Yes karaoke with the use of its karaoke machine makes the group alive and could shout, oops I mean sing what their hearts out. He he he! And everybody happy! Yes, everybody would be happy with the help of the host/hostess great party. :-) That would be awesome, don't you think? Do you love singing?

Me, I love it that much though I do not have such a very voice. Well, practice makes perfect, right? Ha! What's the use of your own karaoke if you won't use it? How I wish I/we have one. Just for family bonding or for special occasion.

I have been meaning to post a surprise Christmas virtual friendship gift of me  which I received the day before yesterday from a blogger mommy virtual friend of mine Mrs. Mary Anne T. (surname is being hidden to protect her privacy but if it's okay with her, I would do it with no second thoughts but for now, this is just what I can tell aside from her three blogs) of Mary Anne's Musings, Little World of Fun and my little home blogs who is from Davao, Philippines. I didn't expect she sent me this as I thought we have only to exchange greeting card (which so sadly haven't been able to do it, even one which I thought it's disappointing of my tradition started wayback two years ago and felt with a word to her that for some reason, I wasn't able to. Thanks she understood. I will just make up to her the next time around.) Actually, she told me days ago (I guess after Christmas, not so sure with the date) that she sent me and if it already arrived. I did not realized that she paid P420 (or $10 at 1=P42) aside from the gift and fare of going to and fro in the post office.  She exerts money, time and effort. With that, she really has to be appreciated, who wouldn't? Wow! I was and still touched with her thoughts (a big bookmark with a very touching thoughts on it as written by Laura Medley as "To: My Very Good Friend" and a native bag (a size of 16 by 14 as length by width) off-white color bag made in the city where she resides now with her daughters. Indeed, who wouldn't be surprised with it? No one but everyone and me if you were on that situation. All smiles, left and right chick. What a day! It made me happy that somehow there is a person whom even I did not meet in real life, appreciates of who I am, and vice versa as I so appreciate of what kind of person she is. A person who is kind, not only to her siblings  (which she selflessly gave-up her house for her siblings) but also to her friends and am glad am one of those. Thanks a bunch sis Anne! You really made my day! God bless you and your family and more blessings to your kind heart! I'll make it up to you sis! Muahhh! ~hugs&kisses~

Diary, keep it in memory.

When it comes to kids, Elmo is such a common thing. Kids adore it and wanted it like their mom. Oops! Okay, it is kids stuff. This time of year, giving gifts to kids is such memorable to them. I would not believe it is one of their happy moments (if not happiest) the whole year round. If you want your kids to be merry, you may like to give him/him personalized elmo apparel especially if they are Elmo fans. For sure, they would not forget you. Now, it is not only you are happy but the kids you love too! Merry Christmas!

If you read or watched news, you already knew we had six days rains in a row. Yes it is consecutive as in non-stop which is odd when talking about California. I was not able to get and mailed Christmas cards to my family and friends here in USA and Philippines though it was already late. I just greet them through text and call. Or through yahoo messenger or Facebook. Gosh how I really wish to continue our (together with DH) family tradition of sending the traditional way of greeting this Christmas time. I really wanted to go out one of those days, well, if only I have rain boots like overshoes such our traditional way would not be stopped. DH just would not allow me to go outside knowing it was raining hard. I know you will understand anyway. I just have to say to my friends and extended family that I will make it up next year. Anyhow, merry Christmas all! ~hugs&kisses~

Ha ha ha! That is always what one should have to say, well, an optimistic way. What else? ;-)

I actually was at home about four days ago. Jetlag galore, monthly sickness (menstruation, you know..), some sleeping chores as I was exhausted, tired and feeling still in clouds. Ha ha ha! Ooh well, two weeks is just a little time but it is enough to those who are contented and include me to that. I wanted to extend but I know I cannot have everything. The catch is I have the major ones, yey! Speaking of contentment, what more could I ask for? Nothing. Just understanding and appreciation. Nothing more, nothing less. Nyahehe!

I would also like to thank my dear husband for granting me to go alone [oops, he said that would be the last trip of being just me, meaning he will be with me next time or we will be at home together. :-D And that is not bad.]

My mareng Lulu also is one of the few who "save me by the bell", some online chores. Thanks mareng! Your argentina and piniato is on its way (tomorrow).. hehe.. muahhh! To you my folks, friends, ladies and gentlemen. Thanks a lot for remembering me and still be her. A lot of kisses. ~muahhh~ {just being grateful}

It would be awesome to have a vacation outside the country, but not on a thought of underestimating the beauty of our own. Yes, mostly, folks wanted to go outside the country when speaking of a vacation. Thinking about USA's very own Branson in Missouri which offers a great Branson vacation packages to which it maybe made you think, it is indeed a great deal, should you like to know and see for yourself, I suppose. Why not? Escape the city's hustle bustle and get to the top of the woods, yes mountain! And, why not?! ;-)

When I think of the Fall, I think about Rugby. The best time for a little rugby is just as the leaves start touching the ground and the weather gets a little nasty. I've been playing rugby with my friends ever since I was a wee little tot and while I enjoy a spot of angling as well in the Fall, rugby is most definitely my favorite of all the fall sports.

Nowadays, I often play with my roommates on the weekends. Since we all go out for the entire day, we make sure to set our home security alarm (ADT CA online offer) before we go. After throwing all our gear and a cooler in the trunk, we head over to the store for some liquor and grub. Once we reach the field at Skyline we flip a coin to pick the teams and get started with the 1st game. Afterward we all down some ale and then we get on to game number two. We continue on this path for as many games as we can go. It's quite hysterical once we're getting on to games number six or seven. By then most of us are well liquored up and not in our right state of minds. It really doesn't matter who wins or loses, its all in good fun. Although I'm not sure all my friends would agree with me on that one.

Well, it is not a secret that a person will become old. We could not be young and turn younger. But age is of ascending way. It is just the way it is and nothing we can do about it. Wrinkles would also come and one can tell through it, though some are not yet that old. Otherwise, such wrinkles especially in the eyes would be treated like putting-up wrinkle eye cream as everyone would like to have, a wrinkle-free. That also meant it would look as younger you, logically and physically. Once one tell them about one's age, they would surely tell "what is your secret?" ! Ahh.. you have to prepare your answer to that, it would be either be in joke-style or seriously. Or you can either do not tell or no words utter if you do not like to tell that person. Oops! Sharing is loving.. ;-)

My wife Shirly may be the best cook in the world. Which makes me the luckiest man in the world, I think! She's always concocting new recipes every week. Last week, she made Chicken Mole, which is chicken with chocolate and peanut butter sauce. It sounds a bit strange, but it was actually quite tasty.
Well, last night we had Bill and Patsy, our neighbors, over yesterday for dinner as a congratulations on becoming grandparents. (Their daughter just had a little girl the other week, and they couldn't be more thrilled.) Aside from the celebration, they always like coming over because they know mealtime is no joke in our household, and this time was no different. My wife tried her hand at making Thai food -- so we had curried duck noodles and pad thai. It was beyond amazing!

We had a great time just talking, too. Bill told us the coolest thing -- he'd apparently gone to Miracle-Ear that morning and signed up for a hearing test for the next day. I had no idea you could do that kind of thing online, but apparently you can! I'm considering it myself. Either way, we had a great time and a great meal. Shirly truly outdid herself.

Yes, today is October 10, 2010, triple ten as what you see. It is three 10 in a row. People are celebrating this date around the globe. Cebu Pacific Airline in the Philippines even have a promo fair this time which is for a trip next trip. And guess what, it is only P10 anywhere in the Philippines. Just being sure it is local time there once booking. By the way, it is for online booking only (for FYI). Ooh well. It is already a very big deal! Don't you think? If only I know this early, I may have told my cousin dear in Manila who wanted to go home next year aside from this coming December. Most folks booking at dawn time at this date as it is jam packed and its website. Thanks by the way to my Filipino plurk friends who told me about this through their walls, though it is already quiet late. But then this information quiet pretty being followed, maybe next year for 11-11-11 watch-out for it. It maybe only P11! Look also for other promos of that date. Don't forget the parties everywhere, if you are a party-folk! ;-) Have a blessed 10-10-10!

(Guest post written by Annette Childress)
Before I retired, I worked a chef at this bistro downtown. I’ve always loved to cook, and, now that I’m not working, I feel like I actually have time to create more recipes than ever before!
I recently concocted this amazing pork marinade, so I decided to buy a bunch of pork loin and invite our friends over for a dinner party to try it out. All 12 of us sat around our big dining room table and enjoyed both each other’s company and the enormous amounts of food I’d made.

Well, it’s hard enough to keep up with conversation when you’ve got that many people talking, but about mid-way through the party I realized that my hearing felt a little fuzzy. I couldn’t quite understand what my friends on the other side of the room were saying, and I started lagging behind in the conversation. The next day, I made an appointment to have my hearing checked.

Turns out I actually needed hearing aids—badly. I chose a pair from Miracle Ear that I’d liked the best, and now I can hear great. I can’t wait until our next party, when I can actually enjoy our conversation!

I just got my winning last night. To tell you I am just happy. I am unlucky when it comes to raffles, contest, giveaway, name it! I don't even like to join. Ha ha ha! Lucky me, I joined and luckily I got it. Actually, my other blog won it. Thanks to the contest host and of course to God and to all of you!

It was awesome, I still cannot believe it until now even if I already have the money. Hehehe! Oops! Am not kidding, am serious. That is because out of 122 entrants, I am the lucky one who bagged the first prize, not only 5thou entrecard credits but two domains with web hosting (in wordpress platform, I guess such web hosting is good for one year or it would be best good for five years or lifetime.. ha ha ha.. joke.. lifetime is impossible, I guess) but fifty bucks too! I am planning to share my winnings. I do not have the domains with web hosting yet but no worries because that is a pledge and sureness already. I just have to contact Rubz, the domain angel as she call.

Okay, as I said I want to share it with you. I will ran a little giveaway for you guys (co-bloggers or not, to those who are not into blog or domain you can do whatever you like to it. Be it as your gift or alike) for that two domains with web hosting. For now I am still hesitant how would I do it. Now, will you please share your idea how? I do not want any video stuff through random(dot)org as it is very common. I want to have another way. Whatever that way, just comment it here and whichever comment I like the most, I will give the first domain with web hosting to her/him and the other one is for the winner of her idea of such simple giveaway. Just a tip, I wanted it just a simple only. So jot down your idea here. This will run until Monday. Do not worry I will moderate the comments and will only publish it on Saturday morning as I woke up (USA PDT time). So comment should you like. ;-) If no comment (perhaps haven't read or just so busy and alike, or perhaps not whatever you like to think) then apparently no winning. ;-) Okay, I will not campaign for this. I will just let it be just an ordinary post. Lucky reader/commenter will then get free domain with web host (note: wordpress platform). If no comment then I will just then think what will I do with it (generally). ;-) Good luck!
